Questions about getting a business loan from a foreign bankby SCOTT JENSEN on 2006-06-14 13:15:07 I am looking into starting up a poker website. I have potential investors. One of them wants to provide loan guarantees instead of cash. He is willing to guarantee a business line of credit with a $3 million limit. However, because I'm starting a poker site, I cannot use US banks. Does anyone know of a website that lists non-US banks? Ideally non-US banks that are willing to lend to poker sites. And any advice on how to best deal with foreign banks would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance. Your best bet may be to go down to Costa Rica where the gambling internet sites are located . -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com Questions about getting a business loan from a foreign bankby SCOTT JENSEN on 2006-06-14 21:53:56"Steve" wrote: > "Scott Jensen" wrote: > >> I am looking into starting up a poker website. No, the US banks cannot lend money to online gambling websites. That's why I cannot use a US bank. As for the potential investor, he does have the collateral. He wants to put it up instead of putting in cash. If my site succeeds, he will have spent no money of his own. > Your best bet may be to go down to Costa Rica where the > gambling internet sites are located. They're located now in 70 countries so they're pretty spread out. If my site > succeeds, he will have spent no money of his own. I said the ~same~ lending criteria as a US bank. Almost any bank in almost any country will require the same type of "collateral" for a line of credit and that means the "investor" will have to deposit $3 million in that bank to advance you a line of credit! The bank will pay interest on that deposit but the 3 million won't exactly be available, > They're located now in 70 countries so they're pretty spread out. I was kidding about going to Costa Rica but a couple of the major gambling websites are located there and they employ a lot of Americans! > > Scott Jensen > > . . -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com Questions about getting a business loan from a foreign bankby BARNABAS COLLINS on 2006-06-15 10:39:14 On Wed, 14 Jun 2006 13:15:07 -0500, "Scott Jensen"wrote: >I am looking into starting up a poker website. Between denial of service attacks, extortion by DOS people, banking issues, etc. i'd strongly suggest re-examining your buiness proposal. Do a google search on these sites who do peak business around the super bowl and then get shut down when they didn't pay "protection" to DOS predators. You're also talking years to design software/a system that is bomb proof when it comes to hackers and other security issues. Also congress is close to blocking the use of Credit cards for gambling. It may well become a lot harder to use these sites soon. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =----
